Storm Babet to Bring Heavy Rain and Potential Floods to Lincolnshire

Met Office Issues Weather Warning for Lincolnshire Due to Approaching Storm Babet

The Met Office has sounded the alarm for possible disruptive weather in Lincolnshire and surrounding areas. The announcement comes in anticipation of Storm Babet, which is predicted to impact the UK significantly.

Anticipated Impact of Storm Babet

Starting from 9pm on Wednesday, October 18, until 6am on Saturday, October 21, a yellow warning will cover all of Lincolnshire. The northern and eastern regions of the UK are expected to bear the brunt of the storm, with a prolonged spell of heavy rain.

Potential Flood Risk, Travel Disruptions & Hazardous Road Conditions

As per the Met Office, there is a minimal likelihood that the storm could result in floods, leading to damage to homes and businesses. Additionally, there's a potential for delays or cancellations to public transportation services such as trains and buses. Road conditions are expected to worsen due to heavy spray and possible flooding, potentially leading to road closures.

"Storm Babet will bring impactful rain to many parts of the UK, but especially parts of eastern Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England later this week. Heavy and persistent rain will fall onto already saturated ground bringing a risk of flooding,"

- Steven Keates, Deputy Chief Meteorologist

Follow Warnings and Stay Updated

Keates further advised residents to pay attention to flood warnings issued by local flood warning agencies and local authorities. Besides heavy rain, Storm Babet is expected to cause strong winds and large waves near some eastern coasts, with gusts of over 60mph possible in eastern and northern Scotland starting Thursday.
