Severe Weather Continues to Lash Lincolnshire Post-Storm Babet
The county of Lincolnshire, which is still reeling from the fallout of Storm Babet, now faces the prospect of further rainfall. The storm, which had caused significant disruption across the region, led to substantial flooding, leaving certain parts still under active flood warnings.
Lincolnshire and the broader region of the East Midlands can expect additional showers not only this week but also through the weekend, according to the Met Office. It is predicted that Thursday will experience the brunt of this worsened weather, with areas like Lincoln, Skegness, Grantham and Boston, expected to grapple with heavy rainfall.
Flood Warnings Still in Effect
Despite improvements in some areas, water levels remain critically high in others, with five flood warnings still being active. The issued warnings apply to the following areas:
- Heighington Beck in Heighington
- Low Barlings and the Short Ferry area
- River Witham and associated Fens from Chapel Hill to Boston
- River Witham and associated Fens from Washingborough to Metheringham
- River Witham and associated Fens from Woodhall Spa to Chapel Hill
Storm Babet has led to widespread road flooding, causing 21 road closures throughout Lincolnshire that were still in place as of Monday, October 30.
