Increased Rain Threat for Lincolnshire: Met Office Update

Increased Rain Threat for Lincolnshire: Met Office Update

Met Office Issues Updated Weather Warning for Lincolnshire

The Met Office has increased its yellow weather warning for significant portions of Lincolnshire to highlight potentially heavy rainfall and consequential flooding. This warning will remain effective until 4pm, Tuesday, 24th October. Included in the warning are prominent areas such as Lincoln, Sleaford, Horncastle, Market Rasen, and the Lincolnshire coastline.

Up to 50mm of Rainfall Expected

An updated notice from the weather institution suggests that up to 50mm of rainfall could drench the above-stated areas, enhancing the possibility of further flooding. According to the Met Office, among the regions at the most risk are Lincolnshire and the South Pennines, where the heaviest downpours are anticipated.

Diverse Weather Conditions Expected

As well as rain, the Met Office warned of the potential for mist in some locations while others might experience drier weather later into the warning period. Coastal areas can anticipate breezy conditions.

"Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services. There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings. There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life. There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads."

In response to these wide-ranging conditions, the Met Office has outlined what Lincolnshire residents should anticipate during the yellow warning period.
