Abnormal Load Movement Slated to Impact Lincolnshire Traffic
An unusually large load scheduled for transit may result in major traffic disruptions across Lincolnshire. The load, being moved by a steam turbine, holds an exceptional weight of 230 tonnes. It is set to journey from Peterborough to the Port at Sutton Bridge on Monday, September 25.
Load Details and Scheduled Transit Times
The steam turbine moving the load possesses an overall length of 36 metres, with a width and height of over five metres each. The journey is slated to commence after 9:30 am, following the route of: A15, A47, A16, A151, A17, and onto West Bank via Bridge Road.
Potential Impact on Road Traffic
The sheer size and weight of the load, coupled with its ponderous movement, may result in significant delays and require temporary road closures along the route. The Lincolnshire Police have advised those likely to be affected, to consider planning alternative routes.
“The load is not permitted to travel during peak times so movement will not commence until after 9.30am. The movements are not able to take place during hours of darkness due to most roads not being fully lit and it is imperative that abnormal loads are moved only when it is safe to do so,” said a representative from the Lincolnshire Police.
