Road Closures Across Lincolnshire Due to Major Upgrade Works

Road Closure Announcements in Lincolnshire

Following a recent announcement by Lincolnshire County Council, 77 roads across the county are slated for closure this September for scheduled upgrades. Part of a £700,000 scheme, the selected residential roads in Lincolnshire will receive specialised surface treatments specifically designed for suburban areas.

Surface Treatment and Duration

The process, known as micro-asphalt surface treatment, seals the existing road surface, improves the texture, boosts skid resistance and allows for better evaporation of water. This type of maintenance can prolong a road's life by an estimated 10 years. The entire procedure, carried out by the council's highways team, involves applying a base and top layer of slurry to the existing road surface. This treatment, which dries within half an hour of application, takes between two and four hours to complete per job.

Schedule and Working Hours

The roadworks will begin on Monday, September 18, and will continue over the next six weeks, weather permitting. The working hours are between 7am and 6pm daily, under the provision of mobile road closures. Debris from the works will be swept in the following week, if necessary. Road markings can only be replaced after the final sweep, which can be a few weeks after the works. Temporary signs will be placed where needed to inform the public about removed road markings.
