Lincolnshire Motorists Baffled by Conflicting Speed Signs in Digby Village
Motorists in Digby, a small village in Lincolnshire, have expressed confusion over the presence of two conflicting speed limit signs on the B1188. One of these signs a 50mph limit while the road itself bears a painted 40mph limit symbol.
Community Reaction to the Confusion
In the local Facebook group, Digby citizens voiced their confusion and amusement. A photo of the conflicting speed limit signs was posted by Susie Glover, accompanied by the caption "Seen on our roads earlier and gave me a giggle - talk about confusing!". This post triggered a chain of humorous reactions and a flurry of jokes about the puzzle were made among the community. Meanwhile, some members offered possible explanations.
Lincolnshire County Council Responds
Lincolnshire County Council later cleared the air by explaining the reasoning behind the conflicting speed limit signs. According to the council, the 40mph roundels were painted, anticipating the introduction of new signs, but the task was not executed by the same subcontractor.
The council further stated that the 40mph limit would not be in force until the signs match. The completion of the sign work is due to be finished imminently. They revealed that in practice, this is usually the process of installing signage and road lines.
