Update on Train Incident in Lincolnshire
The British Transport Police recently released an update regarding a tragic incident that occurred in Lincolnshire, where a person was hit by a train. The incident took place on Littlefield Lane in Grimsby, on Tuesday, October 24.
Upon receiving the report, emergency services were promptly dispatched to the site. The first respondents included the British Transport Police, the East Midlands Ambulance Service, and the air ambulance.
The accident caused a disruption in the train service running between Grimsby and Lincoln. East Midlands Railway confirmed the unfortunate incident and train services were halted for a few hours.
Officers were called to the line in Grimsby at 11:35am following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended and a person has been taken to hospital in a serious condition. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.- A spokesperson for the force
Additional Medical Emergency
While addressing the incident of the person hit by the train, authorities had to respond to another medical crisis occurring on a stranded train.
We sent a paramedic in a solo response car and three crewed ambulances. The air ambulance was also in attendance. One patient was assessed and discharged at the scene, and another two patients were taken to hospital via double-crewed ambulances.- A spokesperson for the ambulance service
Transport Alternatives
Due to the disruption, replacement buses were provided to transport passengers between Grimsby Town and Lincoln Central, including intermediate stations from Barton on Humber to Cleethorpes. Passengers were advised that this diversion could result in an additional hour of travel time.
