Dog Access Alterations on Lincolnshire Beaches as Summer Ends

Dog Access Alterations on Lincolnshire Beaches as Summer Ends

Changes in Dog Beach Access as Autumn Begins in Lincolnshire

As the summer season closes, the Lincolnshire coast is gradually becoming quieter with the incoming cold. However, this also signifies alterations in the rules regarding dog policies on the county's beaches.

Rules and Penalties During the Busier Period

From May to September, strict rules apply for dog owners on the beaches in coastal towns such as Skegness, Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea. The East Lindsey District Council enforces these regulations under its Public Space Protection Order to foster responsible dog ownership. Any failures to abide by these orders can potentially lead to fines up to £1,000 following a conviction in the Magistrates Court.

Relaxation of Rules

However, starting Saturday, September 30, these rules will be eased, allowing for leisurely walks by the seaside with their furry companions. The changes apply to several beaches including Skegness, Mablethorpe, Ingoldmells South Beach and Sutton-on-Sea.

Skegness Beach

While the town of Skegness remains approachable to dogs, the busiest sections of the beach enforce bans between May 1 and September 30. The areas in question stretch from the lifeboat house at Tower Esplanade to the skate park at the conclusion of the North Parade. However, these rules will be relaxed during the colder months.

Mablethorpe Beach

While Mablethorpe Beach restricts dog access from May 1 to September 30, some regions are available for dog visits throughout this period. But these will also be voided moving into the cooler months, meaning unrestricted dog-walking access.

Ingoldmells South Beach

Ingoldmells is a standout as it allows dogs all year round on its sandy South Beach, making it an ideal choice for dog owners. It remains a steadfast option for dog-bound exercise.

Sutton-on-Sea Beach

At Sutton-on-Sea, dogs are prohibited from the beach stretch from Bohemia below the Council Chalets, but they have access to the vast areas between. The restrictions here also fluctuate in sync with the seasonal change, from May 1 to September 30.

Chapel St Leonards

A similar rule is established at Chapel St Leonards, with a dog ban on the beach extending 200 metres either side of the Main Pullover from May 1 to September 30. However, dogs are allowed to be kept on a lead on the village green, cemetery, churchyard and land owned by the Parish Council.
