Lincoln Crown Court Witnesses High-profile Cases of Crime and Investigation in August 2023

The Lincoln Crown Court has seen a myriad of cases this August, ranging from sexual offences dating back several decades to organised drug-related crime. From sentencing a 76-year-old to dealing with the final arrest among an Organised Crime Group (OCG), the officers and jurists have been particularly busy with complex cases.

Bryan Lockwood: A Grisly Tale of Past Offences

"Bryan Lockwood, 76, was sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of 19 sexual offences against children. He was convicted of all 19 charges, which date as far back as 1986 up to July 2023."

Lockwood was sentenced after appearing at Lincoln Crown Court on Wednesday, August 23.

Life Sentence for Andrejs Servutas in Murder Case

In another case, a 44-year-old man named Andrejs Servutas was sentenced to life in prison for a brutal murder case. The victim, Igors Petrovs, was beaten before being thrown into the River Witham. Servutas received a life sentence and will have to serve at least 18 years before becoming eligible for parole.

Servutas's accomplice, Kaspars Spiridonovs, received a 15-year sentence for manslaughter, and an additional 18-month sentence for perverting the course of justice.

Jud Green Sentenced for Rape and GBH

In a shocking case, Jud Green, a homeless man, was sentenced to 16 years in prison for rape and GBH. The former pleaded guilty to charges of non-fatal strangulation and criminal damage, leading to his severe punishment.

"...a woman came forward in December 2022 to say she had been physically assaulted, sexually assaulted, and raped by Green. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison when he appeared in Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday, August 10."

The Husky Incident: Vince King and Karen Alcock

In an unfortunate animal-related offence, Vince King received a 10-month sentence, suspended for two years, for being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control Husky. His then-partner, Karen Alcock, received an eight-month sentence suspended for two years.

Drug Seizure Culminates with Daniel Askew's Sentencing

"Heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, amphetamine, cannabis and synthetic cannabis with a street value of £3 million were recovered from a self-storage unit in Lincoln."

Making the largest drugs seizure in Lincolnshire Police's history, the sentencing of Daniel Askew marked the end to a high-profile, extensive investigation into an organised drugs operation.

Sarah Moulds Cleared of Animal Cruelty Offence

Former teacher, Sarah Moulds was found not guilty of an animal cruelty offence, despite being filmed assaulting her pony, Bruce. The trial jury took five hours to deliver this verdict.
