Four Men Facing Lengthy Sentences Following a Fatal High-Speed Race
Four individuals involved in a high-speed car race, which tragically ended in the death of a 20-year-old woman, were found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving by the Lincoln Crown Court. The offenders are now facing potential long-term imprisonment.
The Fatal Incident on A16 at Utterby
The court trial disclosed that the accused were traveling at 'simply stupid' speeds on the A16 at Utterby. The horrific crash claimed the life of Denii Reynolds, a 20-year-old from Grimsby and left a 70-year-old woman, Margaret Williams significantly injured. Reynolds was a passenger in the fatal car race.
Accused Deny Culpability
The front-runner of the race, Keelan Tuke, 21, who was accompanied by Ms. Reynolds denied having any recall of the incident or knowing whether his driving was unsafe. His co-accused blamed Tuke for causing the crash, stating that he hit a kerb in his Citroen C1 and went on to collide with an oncoming Vauxhall Corsa.
Emergency Services Response
Josh Dobb, 21, Keigan Launder, 23, and Riley Duncombe, 19, who were also involved in the fatal race, stayed at the crash scene and made emergency calls. The incident occurred on October 26, 2021. Tuke, Duncombe, Launder, and Dobb were all found guilty on Monday.
Pending Sentence
Apart from death by dangerous driving conviction, the guilty four were also found responsible for causing severe injuries to the Corsa’s driver due to their reckless driving. Judge James House KC granted bail to all four until the sentencing hearing on November 24.
"I grant you all bail on the same terms as before. You must understand that that is no indication as to the sort of sentence that I must impose."
