Lincolnshire Football Club Suffers Unexpected Damage, Cancels Weeks of Sessions

A grassroots football club in Lincolnshire has had to cancel a fortnight of sessions due to egregious damage. Glenn Hislop, the general manager of Fishtoft Football Club in Boston, noticed tyre marks dug deep into their playing fields on the morning of Thursday, October 12.

The Extent of the Damage

The tyre marks, stretching across the club’s pitches, were first brought to Hislop's attention by local dog walkers. The extent of the damage has led to the suspension of all the club's youth and development sessions while immediate repairs commence. The main pitch has been deemed unfit for football for a minimum of two weeks to permit its restoration.

Hislop: Frustration and Determination

"We are just frustrated. It's extra work that we didn't need. We are a grassroots football club and it's all volunteer work that goes on here," the distraught general manager confided.

The club, run by volunteers, has never experienced such disheartening incident before. "Everyone is fed up with this petty damage. We have never had this happen before in the many years I have been here, fingers crossed it's a one-off," Hislop lamented. He also expressed frustration over the thought of football enthusiasts missing two weeks of their beloved sport due to the unplayable state of the pitch.

Repair Efforts and Call for Help

Mr Hislop acknowledged that significant work is needed to repair the damage, and the club has pleaded for assistance. In a positive turn, over 20 individuals responded to the call for help and offered their assistance with the repairs.

The Incident Detailed

Details about the incident were shared on Fishtoft Football Club’s Facebook page on October 12. The club administrators strongly urged anyone with any information to communicate with them.

Meanwhile, the Lincolnshire Police have encouraged people to report such incidents for timely investigation. The identity and motives behind the incident remain unknown.
