Lincolnshire's Famous Boston Bike Night Discontinued Due to High Operating Costs

In an unfortunate turn of events, the popular Lincolnshire motorcycle meet-up, Boston Bike Night, will not continue beyond its 27th year. The organisers cite rising and 'unviable' operating costs as the primary reason behind this decision.

A 27-Year-Old Tradition Ends

Boston Bike Night has been a hub for thousands of bikers from across the county over the last quarter-century. Sadly, the survival of the county's largest event seems untenable in the face of escalating operating costs. The event held in July at the town's Central Park, marking its 25th anniversary, turned out to be the last one unbeknownst to the hundreds of bikers in attendance. As confirmed by event organisers, no event is slated for the 2024 calendar year.

Organisers Comment on the Decision

"Those costs also show no signs of easing in the future. In fact, they are more likely to increase. The committee has taken a long hard look at the viability of the Bike Night, and sadly operating costs have now become too high for us to carry on,"

Both the committee and the marshalling team, comprised entirely of volunteers, appear to feel the pinch. Furthermore, the organisers lament the lack of support from local businesses, which has added to the difficulties.

"The committee is disappointed with the increasing burden of regulation and the constant lack of support from the majority of local businesses,"

Covid Lockdown Measures Had Also Affected the Event

Boston Bike Night was forced to cancel their 2020 and 2021 events due to Covid-19 lockdown measures. However, it bounced back strongly in 2022, with what was billed as the "biggest and best showcase of the greatest, rarest motorcycles and everything in between". The event attracted a record number of 2,500 riders from across the UK.

Having been launched back in 1996, the end of Boston Bike Night spells the conclusion of a 27-year-long tradition.
