Road Closure Alert: A46 To Be Shut Down For Maintenance Work
Considerable sections of the A46 are set to face closures over a span of three weeks for resurfacing work. The involved areas include stretches of Holton Road in Nettleton and Caistor Road in Holton le Moor.
Anticipated Road Disturbances
The resurfacing work will commence on Thursday, October 5 and continue until Wednesday, October 25. The roads will only be closed overnight, from 8pm until 6pm from Monday to Friday, aiming to keep traffic disruption minimal.
Closures Aimed At Enhancing Road Quality
"These works replacing the worn surface will make a very big difference to those who travel on these roads. It's a sizeable project that we’re able to undertake on the A46. Because of the nature of the work our crews will be doing the work overnight. By doing that, we’re going to cut the amount of traffic disruption."
This statement was made by Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, who confirmed that, aside from improving the roads, the primary goal is to limit the impact on the daily road users.
Contingencies And Closure Exceptions
Road users are not to worry, as the A46 will reopen to through traffic outside the working hours each night. A diversion route, via the B1434 and B1205 and vice versa, will be arranged during the work hours. However, the work dates remain subordinate to favourable weather conditions, according to council reports.
Highways Council's Assurance
"Whilst we are keeping disruption to the absolute minimum with the works there may be some people who are still affected, and I would like to thank them in advance for their patience and understanding as we carry out the job at hand."
The above was imparted by Mr. Davies, who confirmed that the resurfacing would considerably increase the lifespan of the roads while also making them more pleasant to drive on.
