Vital Drainage Improvement Underway in Harmston, Lincolnshire
Residents of Harmston in North Kesteven, Lincolnshire, will be relieved as a three-week operation to improve local drainage systems began on Monday, October 9. The work, taking place daily, is focused on Station Road, better known among locals as Harmston Hill. The intent behind these efforts is to prevent water from overflowing and damaging the nearby properties.
The Plan
The main emphasis of the improvement works is on bolstering the footpath and drain on Station Road to manage water flow better. Historically, heavy rainfall has caused the relatively low footpath and kerbs to overflow, causing water to flow into local properties.
Councillor Richard Davies, the executive member for Lincolnshire Highways, explained, "These are improvement works that we can now begin which will help assist the flow of water along the highway. What we are doing will better redirect water into the existing drainage system."
The Impact
Despite a degree of inconvenience expected during these works, Councillor Davies assures that the finished improvements will make a significant difference to the local area. He expressed gratitude to those affected for their understanding.
"Although there will be some disruption whilst we are carrying out these works, what we are doing will make a very big difference to the immediate area. I would like to thank everyone affected by our work for their patience and understanding while we put the measures in place."
