Star-studded Christmas Light Switch-On in Lincoln 2023

City of Lincoln Announces 2023 Christmas Light Switch-On Details

The much-awaited Lincoln Christmas light switch-on is slated for November 23, with a star-studded guest list and the introduction of £140,000 worth of new festive lighting to illuminate the city.

Switch-On Hosts: Stars and Celebrities

The switch-on, which is set to occur at 7 pm at Lincoln High Street, will be hosted by various celebrities including the stars performing in New Theatre Royal's 2023 pantomime. Among the personalities set to grace the event are Louis Smith MBE, an Olympic Gold medallist and Strictly Come Dancing champion, Ian Waite, a Strictly professional, and renowned West End performer, Roger Wright. Wright will be playing the Genie of the Lamp in this year’s panto.

"We are thrilled to be involved in this lovely festive event for the city. Our incredibly talented cast can’t wait to perform for you all,"

- Natalie Hayes-Cowley, artistic director at the New Theatre Royal Lincoln

Festive Decorations, Entertainment, and Free Parking

The new festive decorations, funded by a £140,000 investment from the City of Lincoln Council, will stretch from Newport Arch to St Mark's Street, with a stunning fairy-light display inside the Exchequergate Arch. Topping off the illuminations is a 16m tall illuminated comet in the heart of City Square.

Entertainment will begin from 4pm in the high street--with festive tunes, DJ sets, and an exclusive performance by the cast of New Theatre Royal's Christmas pantomime, Aladdin. To make this occasion even more special, the City of Lincoln Council will provide free parking between 4pm and 9.30pm in any council car park-- accessible via the Lincoln Central Car Park or the PaybyPhone app.

"The Lincoln Christmas Light Switch-On event really does kickstart the festivities in the city, and I for one am extremely excited to welcome both visitors and residents to what promises to be an incredible event,"

- Councillor Biff Bean, the Mayor of Lincoln
