Poundland Announces 19 More Stores Reopening

Poundland to Reopen Former Wilko Stores Across the UK

Poundland has shared details on plans to reopen an additional 19 former Wilko shops in the next two Saturdays. These investments increase the total number of Wilko stores being converted to the Poundland brand to 56, as the company extends its product range to include Pepco clothing, groceries, and other household goods.

"Standalone Wilko stores will open in Exeter and Plymouth in Devon, along with two in the South East and one in the North, with locations to be announced imminently," Poundland announced.

Locations of the New Poundland Stores

Already 37 former Wilko stores have been reopened under the Poundland brand, including new establishments at Forge Retail Park in Telford, Queens Retail Park in Stafford, and a store in the former Wilko at Birmingham Fort.

Furthermore, six former M&Co sites will also be reopened as Poundland outlets in multiple regions like Portishead, Crewkerne, Midsomer Norton, Faversham, Newport and Wells. Notably, a former John Lewis store in Watford is also included in the reopening strategy.

Reopening Dates and Locations

Poundland already scheduled to reopen its branches in locations like Ammanford, Alfreton, Thornaby, South Shields, and Newcastle-upon-Tyne on October 28. Meanwhile, locations such as Alnwick, Leeds, Grimsby, Hull, Lichfield and Barnsley will have their branches reopened on November 4.

Future Expansion Plans

Poundland has set an ambitious plan to open or relocate a total of 75 stores by Christmas. These include several relocations in regions including Gloucester, Lancaster, Sunderland and others set for November 2023. December will see relocations or openings in areas like Radstock, Bedford, Faversham, and Newport among others.

As part of it's expanded portfolio, The Range paid £5m to acquire the Wilko brand, website and intellectual property, and disclosed its plans for five standalone Wilko stores.
