Combatting Winter Mould: A Simple Solution Reported

As winter approaches, an increase in mould around the house becomes a common nuisance for homeowners. Condensation on windows and damp, warm spaces such as bathrooms often provide the ideal environment for mould to thrive.

Silicone sealant around the bath and sink are particularly susceptible to mould, and once it sticks, it can be enormously challenging to eradicate. However, a simple solution has recently been spotlighted by the Daily Express, sourced from the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook page.

Mould "Vanishes Like Magic"

Users on the Facebook page have been raving about an inexpensive mould spray that apparently makes the problem disappear "as if by magic". Following a question from a member of the group about how to remove stubborn mould stains, several responses recommended a specific product: Astonish Mould and Mildew Remover.

"I used Astonish mould and mildew. I left cotton wool soaked in Astonish all on the sealant for 24 hours and it came up a treat,” one user said.

The product can be purchased from several retailers, including Sainsbury's, Poundland, Ocado and Amazon.

The Pros and Cons of Using Astonish

One user emphasised the effectiveness of Astonish, noting its advantages in dealing with persistent dirt and grime. The user found Astonish's powerful formula helpful in blasting away stubborn stains and mould, which significantly eased their cleaning tasks.

"What truly sets this cleaner apart is its effectiveness in tackling tough dirt and grime. With Astonish, I no longer have to spend hours scrubbing away stubborn stains or mould. The powerful formula vigorously blasts away dirt and mould, making my cleaning tasks a breeze," they stated.

However, not all reviews were glowing. There were some criticisms about the product's packaging, more specifically, the spray mechanism, which some users stated was ineffective, requiring a significant number of sprays to thoroughly cover the desired area.

Alternative Cleaning Options

For those looking at options, other brands including Cillit Bang and Dettol also offer mould-removing sprays.
