Theft at Asda Grantham Leads to Deliberate Park Blaze

Asda Theft Followed by Arson Attack in Grantham Park

In the wee hours of December 26th, Grantham's tranquility was shattered by an act of theft and arson. Authorities were alerted to a fire at Wyndham Park around 2.10 am, where they found a forklift and a wooden pallet ablaze. This forklift was reported to have been stolen just moments before from the nearby Asda store on Union Street, along with an assortment of beer and sandwich toasters.

Police have confirmed that the forklift's fiery end in the park was accompanied by damage to Asda's loading bay gates. Two young men, aged 20 and 22, have been arrested under suspicion of multiple offences, including arson, criminal damage, and theft. The pair have been released on bail, with the investigation remaining active.

"Incident 24 of December 26, reported at 2.10 am relates to a forklift and a wooden pallet on fire at Wyndham Park, Grantham," stated a Lincolnshire Police spokesperson. "A forklift, beer, and sandwich toasters were reported to have been stolen from Asda. Damage was also found to the loading bay gates at Asda. Two men, aged 20 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of arson, criminal damage, and theft. They have been released on bail while inquiries are ongoing."

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue teams were dispatched from Grantham Fire Station to the scene. Their efforts helped contain the situation, using a hose reel jet and thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the flames. The fire service has confirmed that the fire was set deliberately.
