New Affordable Homes Approved in Grantham, Lincolnshire
South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) has recently announced approval for building 21 new homes in Grantham, Lincolnshire. The development project, named 'Larch Close', will be situated within the Earlesfield estate, bringing a range of one-bedroom flats and two to four-bedroom houses.
Site Amenities and Features
The houses will include their own parking spaces and cycle storage. A green space to the north of the site is also part of the plan and will be adorned with wildflowers, trees, and a seating area.
"South Kesteven District Council is committed to working with our partners to provide good quality affordable new homes that people want and need." said SKDC council leader, Councillor Richard Cleaver.
Community Engagement in Planning Means No Adverse Impact
The project was not initiated without the involvement of the community. Residents were consulted prior to the formal planning application for the new development. Feedback was collected and incorporated into revised proposals. This preemptive measure ensured that current residents would not suffer from loss of privacy, overshadowing, or adverse effects on their outlook.
Archaeological Sensitivity and Surrounding Facilities
The Larch Close site is of archaeological interest because of its proximity to the Harlaxton crop marks complex. Any archaeological discoveries found during the course of the development will have to be logged. Additionally, the site sits within a convenient distance from amenities. Residents will have access to various convenience stores, primary and secondary schools, fast-food outlets, and the Meres leisure centre within a one-mile walk.
