Major Roadworks to Disrupt Grantham Motorists for Five Months
A significant road reconstruction project is set to cause disruption for motorists and residents in Grantham, Lincolnshire, lasting five months. The £3 million Dysart Road project will see the road fully rebuilt from the A1 overbridge to its junction with Sankt Augustin Way.
Project Details
The work, scheduled to begin on Monday, July 29, will involve a 24/7 westbound closure on Dysart Road for the duration of the project. Additionally, full night-time road closures will be implemented from 7pm to 6am towards the end of the project. Some parking bays and side roads will also be temporarily suspended.
"As many people know, sections of Dysart Road are in a dire state. That’s why we’ve set aside £3 million towards completely rebuilding this main thoroughfare through Grantham."
Councillor Richard Davies, Executive Member for Highways
Project Scope
The project will involve excavating and rebuilding the entire road in sections, using nearly 8,000 tonnes of material. The team will also take the opportunity to replace footways, kerbs, and some of the drainage, as well as tweaking the road’s dropped kerb arrangements.
Diversion Route
A diversion route will be in place via Trent Road / Swingbridge Road / Harlaxton Road, and vice versa, to minimize the impact of the roadworks.
"While the works are underway, a westbound one-way closure on Dysart Road will be in place to provide the contractor a sufficient amount of space to safely carry out the job. This will no doubt cause some disruption, but it’s a necessary evil when carrying out major road improvements like this. In the meantime, I want to thank everyone in advance for their patience."
