Lincolnshire Shop Suffers Damaging Break-In

Lincolnshire Shop Suffers Damaging Break-In

Investigation Launched Into Town Shop Break-In

A shop in Grantham, Lincolnshire, which allows local artisans to sell their unique handcrafted items, has been targeted in a recent break-in. The owner of Vine Street Studios, known only as Jen, discovered her shop's window had been smashed on the morning of Friday, October 13, and four pairs of homemade silver earrings had been stolen.

Shop Owner's Shock

Jen was notified of the incident via messages through the shop's Facebook page. "I got people messaging me through the shop's Facebook page to tell me the window had been smashed. My heart started racing at the time because I didn't know the extent of the damage." Jen stated.

Jen confessed that her first thought was that a pane of glass had been broken, but then began worrying that the damage could be worse. She found some comfort in the fact that a glazer is located nearby and her father-in-law possesses handyman skills, so the window was re-glazed by midday.

Financial Impact

Nevertheless, the incident has had a financial hit on the shop. Jen said the money made this month will be given to the artist who created the stolen earrings. "It's a big hit for a business like mine. Any profit made this month will be going to the maker whose earrings were stolen. It's not an enormous value which almost makes it even more pointless." Jen added.

The Incident

According to Jen, she observed on the CCTV footage of a man smashing the window around 2 am and returning two hours later to steal the earrings. A police spokesperson confirmed that they received a call at 10.04 am on October 13 regarding the incident. Somebody had smashed a front window of a business on Vine Street and taken away some jewellery. No arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.
