Arrests Made Following Reports of Rape in Lincoln
A Lincoln resident, 27, was arrested on the first of October following allegations of rape. Reports of the incident, alleged to have occurred at a city centre property, were received by Lincolnshire Police during the early hours of Saturday, September 30.
A separate 27-year-old man, from Sleaford, was arrested on Sunday at around 8.15am, though he was later released with no further action.
Superintendent Phil Baker Comments
Superintendent Phil Baker shared his thoughts after the arrest of the first man:
"This has been a fast-paced investigation involving several different lines of enquiry, and we now have a suspect in custody. Our officers have been engaging with people in the area and will continue to do so. We take reports of rape and sexual assault extremely seriously, and I’d encourage those who’ve been victims of those crimes to come forward and make contact."
The second man who was arrested continues to be held in police custody for questioning.
Force Urges Victims to Come Forward
A spokesperson for the force implored victims to report incidents of rape or sexual assaults:
"If you’ve been the victim of rape or sexual assault, please report it to us as soon as possible. We can support you and suggest access to a range of services."
