Festive Celebrations in Spalding Town Centre
The town of Spalding in Lincolnshire is all set to ring in the Christmas season with a host of festivities scheduled for Saturday, November 25. The Christmas celebrations present a perfect family day out, featuring entertainment, games, competitions, food, gifts, and craft items.
Fun and Festivities from Morning until Evening
Between 11am and 5pm, visitors can immerse themselves in the joyous atmosphere. A principal draw for children will include a performance by Rapunzel along with an opportunity to meet the princess afterwards. Traditional family favourites such as vintage carousel and swing boat rides will also make a comeback.
Highlights of the Day
A fancy dress competition has been planned with the winner getting the chance to turn on the Christmas tree lights. Santa Claus himself will make a stop at 'Santa's Grotto' in Calthrops Solicitors, ready to hear what the youngsters want for Christmas this year. As for shoppers, local market traders along with festival-themed gift, craft, and food stalls will provide an optimal opportunity for Christmas shopping.
"With Christmas less than 8 weeks away and with many already getting into the festive spirit – Saturday, November 25 will certainly be a date for the diary, the team have been hard at work organising the event which has a little something for everyone to enjoy."
These were the words of Councillor Tracey Carter, deputy leader and portfolio holder for communities and operational housing, keen to highlight the community spirit behind the event.
Street Entertainment and the ‘Elf Trail’
Apart from local shopping options, live music, and performances by the cast of this year's South Holland Centre's pantomime – Beauty and the Beast, will also add charm to the event. Another highlight will be the return of the ‘Elf Trail’, where cheeky elves hide in participating shops in Spalding Town Centre. Shoppers have until Saturday, December 30, to locate them all and fill out their Elf Trail booklets for a chance to win shopping vouchers.
Road Closures
Roads like Market Place, Hall Place, Sheep Market, and Gore Lane will be closed from 6.30am until 6.30pm on the event day. The Sheep Market Car Park will also remain closed from 5pm on Friday, November 24 until 7.30pm the next day.
