Sleaford Driver Strikes Scaffolding Amid Remembrance Day Service
A driver had a medical emergency at the wheel, crashing into a scaffolding structure located on Watergate in Sleaford on Sunday, November 12, at 11:14 a.m.
Crash Amid Remembrance Service
The accident occurred while Sleaford's Remembrance Day parade was taking place near the market square. Witnesses at the scene reported hearing a loud crash as the vehicle hit the scaffolding in front of the Interflora outlet.
Fire and Rescue Statement
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that the driver suffered what is believed to have been a medical issue immediately prior to the crash. The driver was subsequently transported to hospital to receive treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.
Medics on Scene Quickly
Medics attending the Remembrance Day parade were on the scene quickly to offer first aid. They were assisted by the fire and rescue crew.
"A crew from Sleaford came across the incident at 11:14 hrs outside Watergate in Sleaford. A car had been driven into some scaffolding, following what we believe was a medical episode. Firefighters made the scene and the vehicle safe as medics were already on scene."
