Jake Wallis Denies Attempted Murder Charges in Vehicle Attack
In an alarming court proceeding this week, a man named Jake Wallis, based in Retford, Nottinghamshire, stood before Derby Crown Court to officially refute allegations of attempted murder involving eight people at a pub car park.
The 28-year-old appeared for his hearing on Monday, September 25, where he submitted 'not guilty' pleas to eight counts of attempted murder. He was delivered into the hands of justice dressed in a business-casual attire of black trousers, a white shirt and a tie, and was observed to have support from family members present in the public gallery.
Judge Shaun Smith KC stated, "The prosecution wishes to try you on the allegations of attempted murder and that trial will take place in November in front of Judge (Jonathan) Bennett."
Details of the Incident
This case arose from an incident reported to Derbyshire Police on Sunday, June 4, just a few minutes before half past midnight. The police received a call regarding a dispute at the Nags Head Hotel's pub located at North Road, Clowne.
Following the incident, a Derbyshire Police spokesman confirmed that seven people had suffered injuries and one woman was critically injured but stable in the hospital. Jake Wallis, he stated, had been formally charged with attempted murder.
The proceedings for Wallis, who resides in Cocking Lane, Retford, are slated for continuance at the same court on November 27.
Going Forward
Judge Shaun Smith KC confirmed that Wallis's trial would last an estimated three to four days and would take place later this year, with the defendant remaining in custody until then.
