Investigation Underway in Grantham Murder Case

Grantham Man Found Dead with Suspected Knife Wounds

Tony McDermott, 38, was found dead with suspected knife wounds at a Grantham property. The incident took place in Eton Street on October 14 and the police pronounced McDermott dead at the scene. A 37-year-old man is currently in custody, having been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Investigation Underway

A spokesperson from Lincolnshire Police force said the investigation into McDermott's death is ongoing. The local area will remain under vigilance for a few more days as forensic investigations and queries by investigators continue. At present, the 37-year-old suspect awaits questioning by detectives while in custody.

"Our investigation into the circumstances of his death is ongoing, and we will remain in the local area for the next few days while forensic investigations and other enquiries by investigators are carried out. A 37-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody where he is being interviewed by detectives,"

Lovely Floral Tributes Left at the Scene

Floral tributes have been left at the scene, and specially trained officers are currently supporting Mr McDermott's family. Member of the community living nearby confessed to feeling on edge and worried as they observed the presence of police officers and forensic experts in the typically quiet residential area.

Police Statements

Providing her comments on the disturbing incident, Detective Inspector Melanie Crutchley, the senior investigating officer at the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, expressed an understanding of the community's apprehension before appealing for anyone who could help to come forward.

"We are at the very early stages of our investigation. I appreciate the local community will be concerned by this sad news this morning. I can say we have arrested a man in his 30s and are not looking for anyone else at this stage. He remains in custody, and we will update as the inquiry progresses. I would appeal for anyone who believes they can help with information to get in touch."
