Lincoln Resident Raises Alarm Over Traffic Dangers Due to Out-of-Order Lights

A local Lincoln resident has highlighted a potential threat to public safety upon realizing that her route's traffic lights were malfunctioning on Wednesday, September 13. Her immediate neighbourhood, Newark Road, saw a tumultuous morning after a power mishap rendered its traffic signals inoperative.

Technical Glitch Spurs Traffic Chaos

The traffic signals on Newark Road experienced a 'drop in mains voltage', causing them to become nonfunctional from 7.17 am. This misadventure continued till around 8.38 am when a technician arrived to remedy the situation, as confirmed by Lincolnshire County Council.

"Looked really dangerous" Resident Raises Alarm

"Honestly it just looked really dangerous. I woke up on Wednesday morning thinking what’s this noise and then saw out the window that everyone was going from all directions… I just didn’t want to witness a car accident especially knowing how busy this road is all the time. I live and work right next to it all so I was worried for all my clients' safety too."

These were the words of Kamile Jekucionyte, a 22-year-old resident of Newark Road. She also manages her Nail & Lash Tech beauty salon situated on the same road and was concerned about the safety of her clients.

Jekucionyte Warns Locals on Social Media

Jekucionyte shared a Facebook post alerting residents and advising them to sidestep Newark Road that morning due to the traffic lights' problem.

Issue Resolved by Lincolnshire County Council

Lincolnshire County Council confirmed the glitch and announced that an engineer turned up at 8.38 am to address the issue. After a reboot of the signals, they were reinstated, restoring order after a chaotic morning on Newark Road.
