Traffic Disruptions Follow After Tragic Railway Death in Lincoln

Senior Lady Sadly Loses Life in Tragic Rail Incident Near Lincoln Station

Tragedy struck at Lincoln Station on Monday, November 6, after a woman in her 60s was hit by a train resulting in her untimely death. British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that the accident happened at Skellingthorpe Road, Lincoln, during the morning hours. East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) was called onto the scene to respond to the medical emergency.

Tritton Road had to be shut down for a duration, as the authorities took control of the situation and procedures were followed to get the site secured. This unfortunate incident impacted the operation of East Midlands Railway trains as the train line between Lincoln and Newark Castle was forced to close down.

According to the BTP, this accident is not being looked at from a suspicious angle. As per the routine procedure, all details are being gathered for further tasks. Currently, no more information is to be released.

Statement from the British Transport Police

"Officers were called to the line near Lincoln railway station at 10.40am today (November 6) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner,”

This incident caused temporary disruptions to the Leicester/Lincoln/Grimsby and Newark Northgate - Lincoln railway routes. More information about the tragic event will be relayed as it becomes available.
