Officers Sacked Following Misconduct Hearing at Lincoln Police Station

Sackings and Sanctions at Lincoln Police Station

Two police officers assigned to the Lincoln station, Police Constable Craig Barratt and Police Constable John Feeney, have been discharged following claims of excess force used against a member of the public. The sacking was the outcome of a misconduct hearing held at Lincolnshire Police Headquarters on October 9.

The Incident

The incident, alleged to have taken place on October 24, 2021, involved the discharge of professional duties on Thesiger Street, Lincoln. It was suggested that the officers misused their power during an occurrence there. The officers reportedly transported a man, who wasn't under arrest, to a different address after forcefully placing him in a police vehicle. Unsanctioned force was allegedly used again, followed by an unauthorised search and trespass of the property.

Roles and Responsibilities

Police Constable Aaron Hood and Special Constable Charles Kingston from the same station were also part of the hearing. The enquiry untangled the various roles during the incident, finding PC Hood and SC Kingston having played secondary roles. They will consequently face disciplinary action outside the formal misconduct process.

"After further review, it was concluded that Craig Barratt and John Feeney are both now former officers, and it is not in the public interest to carry on legal actions against either of them."

This turn of events emphasises the rigorous action and unforgiving lens placed on any violation of professional conduct, securing public trust and maintaining the prestige of the force.
