At the time of the emergency, the Lincoln City team was 1-0 down against Leyton Orient. The game was taking place away at Leyton Orient’s Brisbane Road ground in East London. In response to the situation unfolding in the stands, the players were prompted to exit the pitch.
The club informed their followers of the incident via a post on social media platform X, earlier referred to as Twitter. The original post read: "There will be a delay due to a medical emergency in the stands, and was posted at 9.35 pm.
Updates Following the Incident
About a few minutes after the initial announcement, the Lincoln City's official account provided an update: "The players are now going back into the changing rooms while the supporter receives treatment beside the pitch. We will update supporters with further information when we have it.
At 10.25 pm, an update announced the match would not restart that evening due to the ongoing medical emergency. In the update, the club extended their thoughts to the fan involved: "Tonight's match at Brisbane Road will not be restarted due to the ongoing medical emergency. All our thoughts are with the Orient supporter at this time."
