Mark Kennedy Leaves Lincoln City

Head coach of Lincoln City, Mark Kennedy, has confirmed his departure from the club, in a recent announcement that has taken fans by surprise.

Head Coach's Surprise Departure

In news that emerged late on Thursday evening, Kennedy, who assumed duties as Head Coach in 2022, has left the English League One side by mutual consent after managing more than 70 games in a coaching tenure that lasted 17 months. Assistant head coach Danny Butterfield has also parted the Imps, engendering unease amongst fans over the club's future.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Lincoln City and I am extremely proud of the progress we have made during these 17 months. We went on a fantastic journey last season to achieve the club’s second highest league finish in 40 years and I believe we have left the team in a better place than when we arrived, and that is something we can all be proud of."

Fans Left in Shock

The departure of both the head coach and assistant head coach has sent ripples of shock amongst Lincoln City's fans, who are now concerned about the next step for the club. Kennedy, in his statement, has reaffirmed his faith in the squad, expressing hope for its continued progress.

"The squad has a strong foundation to continue to go from strength to strength and I sincerely hope that happens."

Sincere Gratitude

Mark Kennedy extended his sincere gratitude towards everyone associated with Lincoln City for the opportunity provided to him. He specifically thanked Clive Nates, all the staff and players, and of course the fans whose support, according to him, was invaluable during his tenure.

"I would like to thank everyone associated with Lincoln City for giving me this opportunity – Clive Nates, all the staff and players and a massive thank you, of course, to the fans for their amazing support throughout my time here. Your backing has meant everything and we hope that you are happy with our work on behalf of your team."

As he signs off from Lincoln City, Kennedy’s eyes are now fixed on his next challenge and he extends his best wishes to everyone at Lincoln for the ongoing season and beyond.

"I am looking ahead now to my next challenge but I wish everyone at Lincoln all the best for the rest of this season and beyond, and I hope our paths will cross again in the future. Up the Imps!"
