Gridline Racing Plans December Reopening Amidst Investigation

Lincoln's Indoor Karting Centre to Reopen After Probing Into Suspected Carbon Monoxide Poisonings

Gridline Racing, a popular indoor karting centre in Lincoln, has announced plans to reopen in December. It follows a temporary closure necessitated by an investigation into suspected cases of carbon monoxide poisonings registered at the venue. The centre, located on Dunford Road, has been closed since August of 2023.

Investigation Background

Concerns regarding the venue arose after reports of 33 people requiring hospital treatment following their visit to Gridline Racing. Later, the NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) revealed that the number of people who visited the hospital displaying symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning was significantly higher at 56.

Council's and Public Health Response

City of Lincoln Council is currently leading the investigation into the matter. They are working closely with various public health agencies, environmental health experts, and Lincolnshire Police. The probe is ongoing while the venue remains closed.

"The prohibition notice put in place in August is still effective and our investigation is ongoing. The proposed new business model is not part of that investigation, however, it would be subject to the appropriate health and safety scrutiny and compliance prior to opening," said a spokesperson from the City of Lincoln Council.
