Gross Misconduct Allegations Against Lincolnshire Police Officers
Four police officers from Lincolnshire face serious allegations of improper conduct, leading to misconduct hearings. Former PC Barratt, former PC Feeney, PC Hood and SC Kingston are alleged to have breached the standards of professional behaviour while stationed at Lincoln.
Officers Accused of Excessive Force
According to reports, on October 24, 2021, the accused officers attended an incident at Thesiger Street, Lincoln where they are alleged to have used excessive force against a member of the public.
Forcible Detainment and Unauthorized Entry
It is also alleged that three of the officers forcibly placed the man into a police car when not under arrest and took him to a separate address. At the address, they supposedly utilized force without lawful authority, entered, and searched the premises without police powers or the authority to do so.
These acts of misconduct contravene the established standards of professional behaviour for police officers, including authority, respect, and courtesy, use of force, duties and responsibilities, and challenging and reporting improper conduct.
Officer Misconduct Hearing
Lincolnshire Police have stated that the officers in question failed to show respect and courtesy, failed in their duty of care by not providing appropriate care and support, and neglected to address committed offences. The officers allegedly failed to challenge and report the improper conduct of colleagues.
If the conduct is proved, it would amount to gross misconduct. A hearing to investigate these allegations will take place at Lincolnshire Police headquarters from Monday, October 9, to Friday, October 13.
