Head Coach Mark Kennedy and Assistant Leave Lincoln

Lincoln City Management Undergoes Major Change

Major changes are underway for Lincoln City’s management team as head coach Mark Kennedy and his assistant, Danny Butterfield, have parted ways with the club.

Mark Kennedy's Term as Head Coach

Mark Kennedy came on board as Lincoln City’s head coach during the summer of 2022, effectively overseeing more than 70 games in his tenure. His faithful assistant, Danny Butterfield, joined the club somewhat later, commencing his service in December of that year.

"Everyone at the club thanks Mark and Danny for their contributions to the Imps over their time with us, and we wish them well in their future coaching careers. They leave with our thanks and best wishes,"

These were the heartfelt words of gratitude and farewell from Lincoln City’s club chief executive, Liam Scully.

Interim Management Changes

Following the departure of Kennedy and Butterfield, the club confirmed that current first-team coach Tom Shaw will step into the void on an interim basis. This move happens in parallel with the club’s diligent effort to identify and appoint a new head coach in due course.

Current Standings and Recent Performance

As of now, Lincoln City currently holds the 16th position in League One, boasting a record of four wins, three draws, and four defeats in their first 11 games. Furthermore, the Imps should to be commended for their admirable performance in the Carabao Cup where they notably advanced to the fourth round. Their journey came to a halt following a close 1-0 defeat against West Ham United in the previous month.
