Lincolnshire Coach Company Cancels Trip to London Protest
A local Lincolnshire coach service has cancelled a booked trip to London. The trip was arranged by Lincoln Friends of Palestine to attend a peaceful protest in the capital. Sleafordian Coaches stopped the journey stating it was due to "company policy".
Sleafordian Coaches' Protest Policy
Sleafordian Coaches explained their policy of not associating with any form of protest. Concerns about potential vehicle damage and driver safety were cited as the primary reasons. The company's stance has led to the cancellation of the planned trip by Lincoln Friends of Palestine.
"Company policy, and previous experience dictate that we avoid all involvement with protests of any description. This is due to the potential for damage to our vehicles, and to ensure the safety of our drivers.", said a spokesperson for Sleafordian Coaches.
Inadequate Information Disclosed
The coach company further stated that Lincoln Friends of Palestine did not provide full details about the purpose of the trip during the initial booking.
"On booking a vehicle the group in question did not disclose full information on what they were planning to do in London.", added the spokesperson for Sleafordian Coaches.
Lincoln Friends of Palestine Response
Lincoln Friends of Palestine expressed "grave concern" about the cancellation, saying it infringes on their basic freedom. The service cancellation was described as being triggered by police guidance about potential disorder.
"We, Lincoln Friends of Palestine, express grave concern as the Sleafordian Coach company cancelled our booking citing police guidance. Lincoln Friends of Palestine condemn such an impediment on our basic freedom of assembly."
Police Involvement
Lincolnshire Police, however, confirmed that Sleafordian Coaches did not contact them regarding arrangements for the transportation of Lincoln Friends of Palestine to London.
