Proposed Development of 160 Homes in Sleaford Aims to Meet Housing Demand

New Housing Development In Sleaford: 160 Homes Expected

In a bid to meet housing demand in Lincolnshire, developers are putting forth plans for the construction of 160 new homes at Handley Chase, Sleaford.

Tackling Housing Woes

Handley Chase is a blossoming 1,450-home estate located off London Road. This new wave of housing is intended to address various housing needs through different tenures such as affordable rent, shared ownership, and rent-to-buy schemes.

The Role of Local Partnerships

Several local stakeholders have come together to make these plans possible. From housing association Platform Housing Group to homebuilding company Miller Homes, various expertise is brought to the table. "The affordable homes would be the solution that local partners need to solve their housing issues," said Kate Ellison, land director at Platform Housing Group.

Stephanie Parker, a land manager for Miller Homes, emphasized the partnership's importance, stating: "[Taking on the project] has given us a great opportunity to deliver 160 homes that will in part help address the housing shortage in the area."

Stipulations and Timelines

While subject to approval from North Kesteven District Council, work on these new homes is projected to kick off in spring 2024.

Handley Chase: A Cornerstone for Housing Expansion

Handley Chase stands as the largest housing development in North Kesteven and is a significant player in the Central Lincolnshire Plan. This plan underscores the need for additional housing in Lincoln, North Kesteven, and East Lindsey. Handley Chase has seen previous waves of development, with lot approvals for 270 homes and 235 homes throughout 2022.

Additionally, plans were submitted in June 2023 for the creation of a public green space, adding amenity value to the housing estate. October marked the completion of a new 67-bed care home, further enriching the community.
