Oliwier Kaczmarowksi's Memory Celebrated through Sponsored Walk
A Lincolnshire academic institution, Gainsborough Academy, together with its staff and students, have paid tribute to a former pupil, Oliwier Kaczmarowski, through a sponsored walk.
Oliwier Kaczmarowski was reported missing on Monday, May 22 of this year. His body was unfortunately discovered from the River Trent near Gainsborough a few days later, on Friday, May 26.
A Tribute In Memory
Remembering their former student, the staff and students embarked on a 10.5-mile walk around the local community. The walk aimed to raise funds for The Salvation Army's Christmas Toy Appeal. Oliwier, remembered by his family as a 'protective', 'very funny', and responsible son, has left a mark in the hearts of many in the Gainsborough community.
Just shy of £1,000 was raised by the participants in memory of Oliwier.
Gainsborough's Community Unites
Gainsborough Academy’s spokesperson expressed gratitude for the successful occasion. The representative stated, "The day was a huge success, and we’re so grateful that the sun came out to play for us. What an achievement for our students – they did themselves, our school and Wickersley Partnership Trust proud.
Furthering this sentiment of gratitude, the spokesperson announced, "We can now reveal that we raised a grand total of £948 for The Salvation Army. A massive thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy cause."
The Gainsborough community’s support was immense, with local residents present to cheer on and back the event. The spokesperson optimistically added, "And of course, thanks to our local community in Gainsborough who cheered us on and supported the event. Same time next year."
Tragic Loss Remembered
An Inquest into Oliwier's tragic death indicated that preliminary results from a post-mortem examination conducted at Leicester Royal Infirmary posited drowning as the provisional cause of death.
