Lincolnshire's Marina Fish & Chips Fights For Top Spot in UK
Marina Fish and Chips, an iconic fish and chip shop situated in Chapel St Leonards, Lincolnshire, has been shortlisted for the renowned National Fish and Chip Awards and fights to be named the best in the UK. Having achieved a position in the top 20, it is the solitary chippy from Lincolnshire to make it to the next level of the competition.
From 40 Down to 20
The competition initially began with a list of 40 entrants, including five from Lincolnshire, and has now been narrowed down to 20 strong contestants. Criteria for evaluation range from environmental best practices and product knowledge to employer accountability, maintaining rigorous standards for selection.
The Road to the Final
Industry leaders are now preparing to conduct a thorough review of each of the 20 shortlisted units, including secret visits, in the process to further thin out the competition to only 10 contestants. Following this, the winner will be announced at a grand awards ceremony, scheduled for February 28, 2024, at the prominent Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London.
Remarks from the Organisers
"The level of detail we require entrants to provide hasn't phased our shortlisted businesses and they are hitting every mark. The award officials have gone back and forth and around in circles choosing the 20 finalists; it’s not been an easy task, so what a brilliant achievement for those that are moving forward."
commented Andrew Crook, president at the National Federation of Fish Friers, the organisation running the awards.
