Peter Levy, Lincolnshire's Television News Favourite
Fondly identified as the face of Look North since 2002, BBC presenter Peter Levy, 66, has a few favourite things about Lincolnshire, including its theatre scene and the view of Lincoln Cathedral. The news veteran has been with the Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire broadcast since 1986.
Levy distinctly recalls covering the great fire in Skegness in 2008, an event now commemorated at one of his favourite spots, the Embassy Theatre in Skegness, with a picture of himself in the midst of the fire scene.
"A few months ago, I was in the Embassy Theatre in Skegness and on the wall, they have a picture of the fire and me standing there doing the programme."
A Devotee of Lincolnshire’s Theatres
Levy is a vocal enthusiast of Lincolnshire's theatres, regularly visiting them in his leisure time. The New Theatre Royal in Lincoln holds special memories for him. He was even invited to participate in one of their productions.
"One thing I love to do is to go to the New Theatre Royal, and this Easter just gone they were putting on a pantomime of The Wizard of Oz."
Levy: Antiques and Scones
Levy also has a fervour for antiquing, citing Hemswell Cliff as an area of interest. After his antique adventures, he loves to unwind at Uncle Henry's in Kirton in Lindsey with a cup of tea and a scone.
Fears for the Lincoln Christmas Market
The veteran broadcaster has fears for Lincolnshire's festive traditions, suggesting people haven't realised the impact of the annual Lincoln Christmas Market's cancellation. The market, one of the country's largest, was cancelled this year due to the pandemic and is expected to be replaced by a series of smaller events.
"I don't think they realise just how much they'll miss it."
Levy’s Love for the Lincolnshire Show
Levy is also a huge lover of the Lincolnshire Show, although he admits to not being too fond of the traffic, especially when commuting from Hull.
Levy returned to his lunchtime slot on October 30, reuniting with weatherman and long-time friend, Paul Hudson.
