Footpath Improvement Works in Stamford to Cause One Month of Disruption

The residents of Stamford, a Lincolnshire town, will experience over a month of disruption due to a series of footpath improvement works. The footpath located on Edinburgh Road will be entirely rebuilt from Charles Road to Green Lane, costing the county council a total of £175,000.

Work Delays due to Weather Conditions

Work was originally scheduled to commence on Monday, November 6, but due to recent adverse weather conditions, the start date has been postponed to Friday, November 10. The works will be carried out on-site between 7.30am and 5pm from Monday to Friday, with a road closure remaining in place even during the weekends. The works are expected to be completed on Friday, January 12.

Statements from Councillor Davies

"The footway is reaching the end of its serviceable life, and we will carry out a full rebuild to improve this area for Stamford. New crossing points will also be installed whilst the work is undertaken to provide improved areas for pedestrians to cross the road." says Councillor Richard Davies, the executive member for Highways.

Councillor Davies acknowledges the inconvenience that the work will cause, but assures residents that all measures will be taken to minimise the disruption.

"To deliver these works will cost £175,000 and the improvement to this section of Stamford’s footpath will be a well-felt benefit to the area. We appreciate that there will be some inevitable disruption whilst the works are happening, and we will do everything possible to keep this to a minimum. I want to thank everyone affected for their understanding and patience whilst we complete this work programme."
