Lincolnshire Seaside Town Simmers Down
A criminal gang that had been operating extensively in a seaside town in Lincolnshire has finally been sent behind bars. This gang was responsible for a mass supply of cocaine, a Class A drug, resulting in an estimated financial worth of £1.5 million in illegal substance distribution within the area.
The Infestation of Skegness
This operation was carried out with the involvement of 11 men and one woman who managed to maintain a steady supply of up to 15kg of cocaine into Skegness from Leicestershire. This was a consistent operation carried out over a span of seven months from September 2019 to June 2020.
An investigation run by local law enforcement uncovered a total of 18 occasions during which drugs and cash were exchanged between the two counties. These transfers were facilitated by two groups who acted as intermediaries for the transactions.
Jumaid Mulla, Lewis Greenwood, and his father Darryl Greenwood, as well as Carl Benham, were identified as key figures in the organization. Nine men had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply a Class A drug.
Severe Penalties for Illegal Activity
During the court session on Tuesday, November 7 at the Lincoln Crown Court, the sentences for the involved gang members were announced. The sentences ranged between 21 months to 11 years, while others got their sentences suspended along with community service hours.
DCI Gemma Smith, from Lincolnshire Police, previously of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit,
"work hard to support our forces in putting a stop to those who pose the highest risk of serious harm to our East Midlands communities...I am pleased the sentences reflect the level of threat this group’s criminality presented and acknowledge the investigation team for their tenacity and determination to bring justice and protect the public."
