Disused RAF Base in Lincolnshire Turns into Residential Community

Former RAF Homes Welcome First Time Buyers

The former RAF base in Lincolnshire, known as RAF Scampton, has been generating substantial interest as it morphs into a housing development. The project, titled Penrose Fields, contains 29 homes throughout the disused location, with new and refurbishing upgrades.

Parking and Renovations Included

The original homes, once possessed by the Ministry of Defence, hit the market back in September. Since then, almost half of these properties have been successfully sold. These homes boast of two, three and four bedrooms with introductory prices beginning at the £150,000 mark. Each property comes with two parking spaces, new front doors and fresh floor coverings in every room. Certain homes also possess updated kitchens for a more modern living experience.

First Time Buyers Take Advantage

The properties, located on Third Avenue within the former RAF base, were released by private real estate owners, Annington. Reporting that already 13 homes have been purchased, with over a third comprising of first-time buyers.

"The first release of homes at Penrose Fields was very successful, and has maintained steady levels of enquiries since. Scampton is a very local market, so we’ve seen lots of interest from people that already live or rent in the village and want to stay in the area, including a mix of civilians and Armed Forces personnel,” said Louise Saunders, Head of Sales and Marketing at Annington.

According to Saunders, these refurbished homes stand out because they rarely appear on the market and provide a more economical choice compared to new builds. Saunders stated this offers all perks of conventional British homes including being well-built with generous floorplans, ample gardens and upgrades to meet modern standards.
