Storm Babet's heavy rainfall causes flooding chaos in Lincolnshire

Flooding in Lincolnshire forces resident evacuation following Storm Babet

A Lincolnshire local has been forced to vacate their home in Middle Rasen owing to the recent flooding initiated by Storm Babet. The heavy downpour that the storm brought with it has caused major disturbances across the county. Motorists, commuters, business owners, and numerous residential areas are all grappling with the unfortunate weather conditions.

Middle Rasen has been particularly hit hard by the flooding. West Lindsey district councillor, Stephen Bunney reported that he was out in the field helping those affected and noted the gravity of the situation due to rising water levels.

"Overnight there was lots of rain and it came flooding down off the fields and into Middle Rasen. The water has gotten worse and is flooding into gardens. At least one property has been evacuated and one or two other properties have got water in them."

Mr. Bunney explained further about how the water has infiltrated the village, affecting various side roads. He urged anyone in distress to promptly reach out to him or the concerned authorities. Whilst the local community does its bit with sandbags, Mr. Bunney said they were also keeping tabs on other villages.

"Anybody that is worried needs to get in contact with the authorities and if they need any support, they need to get in touch with us here at festival hall in Market Rasen. My number is 07506 188570."

The village church of Middle Rasen has not been spared either, suffering from water ingress due to the incessant rainfall. Memory of last year's flooding lingers amongst residents and business owners in neighbouring Market Rasen, where a local shop faced estimated damages worth around £80,000.

Given the magnitude of the flooding, the Lincolnshire County Council has advised motorists to refrain from manoeuvring through flood water. Echoing this sentiment, Lincolnshire Police has also advised drivers to exercise caution.
