Fireworks Event at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre Cancelled Due to Severe Weather
A highly awaited fireworks display, originally planned to take place at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The event, scheduled for Saturday, November 4, was supposed to combine one of the county's largest firework exhibits with historic taxi runs of the renowned Lancaster bomber and DH Mosquito.
Additional Activities Also Cancelled
In addition to the fireworks show, the event was also set to feature educational talks on Bomber Command uniforms and tactics for escape and evasion in times of conflict. Unfortunately, these too, have been nixed due to the same weather-related concerns.
Organisers' Difficult Decision
"Customer safety is our main concern and the condition of the car parks means that we could not ensure the safety of vehicles and customers entering and leaving the site. The centre will be entirely closed on Saturday."
The decision to forgo the event stemmed from the recent heavy rains, making the parking areas and grass landing strip potentially dangerous to use. The centre has made it clear that the safety of its attendees and their vehicles is their priority.
Public Reactions
Many ticket holders on social media expressed their disappointment while empathising with the difficult decision organisers have had to make. Some went beyond understanding and offered their support for the centre in other ways.
"Such a shame but completely understand. We won’t be requesting a refund as would prefer the money to be used for Just Jane"
"We have such unpredictable weather but the safety of the public and planes are paramount. Second one I've booked and cancelled but it's the chance you take, we cannot predict the weather. I will not be wanting a refund, please use any monies to continue your fabulous work and we'll see you next year."
"It's a shame, but understandable, please keep our money as a donation."
Whilst the refund option is available to all ticket holders, many have declined this offer and opted to donate their funds to the Centre and its ongoing work.
