Commuters Delayed After Train Incident in Lincolnshire

Delays Expected on Commuter Routes After Incident

Local commuters can anticipate significant delays following an unfortunate incident involving an individual being struck by a train along a popular route spanning the city outskirts. The disruption, which unfolded between Lincoln and Newark Castle on Monday 6th November, reportedly impacts multiple routes.

East Midlands Railway Response

The East Midlands Railway (EMR) has promptly arranged for substitute buses during this period that the Lincoln to Newark Castle railway line is shut down. The company made a public announcement regarding the distressing incident on their official website.

"We are extremely saddened to report that an individual has been hit by a train. This regrettable incident, which occurred between Lincoln and Newark Castle, is causing significant disruptions on our Leicester/ Lincoln/ Grimsby along with Newark Northgate - Lincoln routes. Our emergency services are currently at the scene managing the incident."

Impacted Routes and Recovery Plan

The EMR statement further highlights that, at this moment, trains are unable to operate in either direction between Lincoln and Newark Castle and Newark Northgate. To compensate, they have ushered in bus services to fill the gap where train routes are disrupted.

"We are currently estimating the railway line to be reopened within the next three hours. As soon as the line resumes operation, our utmost priority would be to return to our advertised timetable swiftly. We are aiming for our regular timetable to recommence on the impacted routes by 14:30."
