Investigation Underway Following Helicopter Crash at Lincolnshire Motel
A dramatic helicopter crash outside a roadside motel in Lincolnshire has prompted an in-depth investigation. The incident took place at the Anglia Motel, off the A17 in Fleet Hargate, on Sunday, November 5.
Details of the Helicopter Crash
The helicopter collided with a lamppost before catching fire. Remarkably, both the pilot and passenger managed to free themselves from the wreckage without injury. The fire was put out by the pilot before the arrival of emergency services.
Eyewitness Accounts
Stuart Harris, a local resident who lives nearby, stated that emergency services arrived on the scene around 15 to 20 minutes after the incident.
Fire and Rescue Response
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue provided a statement outlining the damage and details of the incident.
"This was a private helicopter that crashed on Washway Road, Fleet. There was fire damage to the engine of the helicopter and crash damage to a lamp post. The pilot extinguished the fire with extinguishers prior to the arrival of fire and rescue. There were no casualties, two people had released themselves and were checked over by EMAS."

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has been made aware of the incident and has already initiated an investigation. The AAIB representative said:
"The Air Accidents Investigation Branch is aware of an accident which occurred at the Anglia Motel near Spalding on Sunday, November 5. An investigation has been launched."
