New Care Home Development Planned for Waddington

A Leeds-based care specialist, LNT Care Developments, has submitted plans to North Kesteven District Council to build a new 66-bedroom care home near Lincoln.

Location and Capacity

The proposed care home would be situated on land to the south of Station Road, Waddington, which is part of a larger plot allocated for residential development with a capacity for 321 dwellings.

Job Creation and Economic Benefits

The two-storey care home is expected to create between 50 to 60 full-time equivalent jobs, including management, care workers, catering, and domestic assistants. The developers believe the substantial construction cost would result in an "extremely large contribution" to the local economy.

"The proposed care home would provide a form of development that will positively enhance the character of the site and surrounding area, whilst also offering an important local community service."

Design and Regeneration

The design approach is considered acceptable for the site, and the development would have a positive impact on the area by improving employment opportunities during construction and in the long-term operation of the care home.

"In regeneration terms, it would result in a positive use that would fulfil a social care need and provide a sympathetic development in terms of design and that will be important from social, economic and physical regeneration perspectives."
