Lincolnshire Venue Apologises for Organisation Issues at Firework Event
A Lincolnshire venue has extended its apologies following discontent and disappointment among guests at their recent Autumn Lights event. Attendees cited lengthy queues and perceived disorganisation as spoiler for the annual firework showcase hosted at Lincolnshire Showground.
Details about the Event
The Autumn Lights event, consisting of two firework displays, fire acts, an array of rides, and a DJ set, usually enjoys a positive response due to its impressive pyrotechnics. However, visitors had grievances with the long arrival and departure queues at the car park. Queues for the rides and food & drink stalls were also a source of criticism, with attendees reportedly waiting over an hour for a pint of beer.
"Took us an hour to get in from Ermine East. It was a night of queuing to get in, then queuing for food, then queuing to get out for underwhelming fireworks, we [definitely] won’t be going again." said one dissatisfied attendee on Facebook.
Claims of Overselling
Another user expressed their belief that the event had been oversold this year, leading to more congested queues. This user claimed to have missed the entertainment as they were held up on the A15, describing the overflow of attendees at the rides and food stations as "immense".
The user went on to say, "Whilst the fireworks are always amazing, I don't think we'll go again."
An attendee described the car park situation as a "free for all", claiming to have spent over an hour attempting to leave the venue.
The Venue's Response
The Lincolnshire Showground apologised for the setbacks, attributing them to an "influx of attendees" resulting from cancellations of smaller events in addition to busy weekend traffic. The venue has pledged to review and amend measures to prevent similar delays in the future. It also placed emphasis on the event's overall management by third-party company, Events by Cynosure.
"Please be reassured that the event will be reviewed with the external organiser of the event and their third-party traffic management company to prevent similar issues in the future." Promised a spokesperson for the Lincolnshire Showground.
