Lincolnshire Farm's Livestock Rehomed Following Storm Babet's Devastating Floods

Storm Babet Brings Severe Flooding to Lincolnshire

A Lincolnshire farm has felt the brunt of recent Storm Babet, resulting in damaging floods that saw the owners' livestock needing to be rehomed. Keith Pearce and Sue Machen, who own Fen Farm in Fiskerton, have experienced significant water damage to their property and structures.

The Aftermath of the Storm at Fen Farm

The flooding at Fen Farm brought water levels up to five feet high. Pearce and Machen's livestock, consisting of 12 alpacas, sheep and chickens, has hastily been relocated to Rand Farm Park near Wragby in the wake of the storm. The farm in Fiskerton continues to be at risk from further flooding.

Rand Farm Park has generously offered to accommodate and care for the livestock for as long as necessary while the threat of additional flooding lingers over Fen Farm.

"It is heartbreaking to see the effects of the recent Storm Babet to a fellow farmer who has raised and cared for livestock and land in Lincoln. We will home, care and provide for the alpacas and provide support for Keith for as long as he needs," said Richard Waring, the director of Rand Farm Park.

Concerns About the River Witham

The storm led to evacuation orders being issued for roughly 70 homes in Fiskerton over worries about the nearby River Witham exceeding its limits. The Environment Agency has confirmed about a 50m stretch of the River Witham's bank has been damaged and is being actively monitored by their team.
