Grants for Energy-Efficient Home Improvements in Lincolnshire

£10 Million Energy-Efficiency Grants for Lincolnshire Households

Households in Lincolnshire that are on a low income and reside in energy-inefficient homes can now take advantage of grants to keep their homes warm. This is part of a £10 million award to local authorities in the region for home improvements to reduce energy costs and enhance residents' quality of life.

Who is Eligible?

Residents of the West Lindsey, city of Lincoln, South Kesteven, and North Kesteven districts can apply for funding through the Home Upgrade Grant (HUG2). The Department for Energy, Security and Net Zero, who is leading the scheme, awarded the funding to the local authorities.

What Can the Grant Cover?

The grants can be used to fund improvements such as roof, cavity, and external wall insulation and low-carbon heating solutions like ground and air source heat pumps. Depending on their property's Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating, homeowners could apply for anything from £8,000 to £38,000 to make the necessary upgrades.

Political Words

"As we head into autumn, many residents will start to think about how they are going to heat their homes, which is a real concern for many people. These grants are aimed at supporting those in our communities who are on low incomes to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and look at alternative, low-carbon heating systems," said Councillor Stephen Bunney, chair of the Council’s, Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change working group.
"Such initiatives support the Council’s Housing Strategy, and Environment and Sustainability Strategy, by assisting residents to improve the energy efficiency ratings in their homes," added Veronica Edwards, senior homes, health and wellbeing officer at West Lindsey District Council.

Grant Eligibility Conditions

  • Have a household income of less than £31,000 a year
  • Are off the gas grid (meaning the property isn’t connected and does not have access to a mains gas supply)
  • Have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) between D and G

The local authorities have teamed up with Yorkshire Energy Services (YES) to deliver the incentive. Potential applicants can contact YES at [email protected] or call on 03309 126199.

In addition to this scheme, West Lindsey District Council has launched its Small Steps - Big Impact campaign, which encourages locals to take simple steps towards enhancing the environment. The council has purchased electric vans to replace older diesel vehicles and installed solar PV panels on its waste vehicles as part of its commitment to becoming net zero by 2050.
